Fish Window Cleaning Celebrates 35th Anniversary

St. Louis, Mo., February 4, 2013-St. Louis-based Fish Window Cleaning, which began as a one-man company in 1978, is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and its growth to 250 national locations employing almost 2000 people.

In recognition of their 35 years in business, S. Michael Merrick, CEO and founder of FISH, and Linda Merrick, executive vice president of FISH, were presented with a Certificate of Recognition by the St. Louis County Council.

FISH began business in January 1978 when Michael Merrick, took over a window cleaning business with 100 accounts. Initially Merrick was the sole employee of the business before hiring his first employee three months later. The company expanded through acquisitions and growth before adding an additional business unit, Fish Window Cleaning Services, a national franchisor, in 1998. Today the company employs 27 people at national headquarters, and has 250 franchise locations in 43 states throughout the U.S. that provided services to over 150,000 customers in 2012.

FISH is the largest window cleaning company in the country. The organization ranked 14th in the 2012 Franchisee Satisfaction Survey conducted by Franchise Business Review, 68th on Dun & Bradstreet’s AllBusiness Allstars 2012 Top 100 Franchises, 122nd on Entrepreneur Magazine’s 2013 Franchise 500, and was named to the 2012 Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing businesses.
