Window Cleaning Magazine continues to cement a ‘special relationship’, if I can take a news media term, for this prestigious Convention & Trade Show. This year the IWCA Annual Convention is once again in a beautiful setting, however, this time the venue is hosted at the Embassy Suites Orlando – Lake Buena Vista South, Kissimmee in Florida USA.

The dates for your diary are February 7-10, 2018.

With Disneyland no more than 10 klicks south west of the Embassy, this family friendly hotel boasts two restaurants, bar/lounge, snack bar/deli, outdoor pool and a 24-hour fitness centre…. so pack those sneakers! …… oh – and pack the family! Maybe swap that order around?

Let us get down to business!

The IWCA Convention is a treasure troth of learning, support and dare I say it ‘micro mentoring’.

The event organisers provide a sea of business experience with IWCA board members running very successful companies as well as attracting the support and attendance of some of the largest window cleaning business owners in the United States. These guys are a switched on bunch and are more than willing to offer up tips and advice (micro mentoring) if you can seek them out.

If you are fortunate enough to land rooms at the hotel venue you will find this to be the place for a hotbed of networking and with the hotel providing a 24 hour business center you can be working – well 24 hours.

Remember it’s not always work, so chill out with like minded people and take in the scenery over dinner or a drink.

It goes without saying that some attendees will most certainly haul up in the surrounding hotels like bees to honey where business-networking will undoubtedly spontaneously break out in the bars and restaurants that populate the area.

Make sure you take plenty of business cards. To find out why read this blog (CLICK TO READ BLOG HERE) on 5 hot networking tips for the IWCA Convention 2018.

NEW USA PRODUCT RELEASE: Ionic Systems at the IWCA Convention.

Ok, so we all know that Window Cleaning Magazine has an international readership but we all know its based in the UK, right? So, to be invited once again as a guest by the IWCA is a great honour for me but can also make me, ‘the only Brit guy in the room’, well that’s about to change.

This year sees Ionic Systems UK Team take up booth space at the conventions trade show as they join a newly formed US Team exhibiting the latest ‘truck mounted’ pure water window cleaning system called the ‘Portage’.

If you do not know who Ionic Systems are by now, let me tell you that they have been selling a great range of water fed poles for many years through J Racestein. Ionic and its founder helped create, develop and galvanise the water fed pole window cleaning industry you know today!

If you are new to pure water window cleaning or have just started using telescopic window cleaning poles, get yourself over to the Ionic booth and learn from the experts that kicked started this industry.

Which class should I take?

There are a wide variety of training sessions, classes and outdoor demos with varied tracks. There are three tracks, colour coded to make it easier for you to work out where to spend your time. The three tracks are Owner, Management and Technician so bring your whole team!

Get the most out of the event and plan ahead. Put your business head on and ask yourself, ‘what does your business need right now?’ – IWCA are all about safety, training and growing a successful business. There is something for everyone! Planning your attendance well will maximise your business success.

Classes that motivate your team or employees are always popular and are fully attended ( make sure you get your seat early).

Day 2, Thurs 8th at 9.15am is a great example; How to attract and hire rockstar staff – finding the right employee for your business can be a minefield. You may already have experienced wrong choices in the past, but whereas knowledge in this area does not exclude you from making those future ‘ill judged’ choices again, this type of class will help you make less of them and set you up for greater accuracy on employee choice.
